Kahn Rawiri Anania Cattermole

So keeping this story theme alive, I have a couple more to add to my list of 2...

I actually CAN NOT believe I let this one slip by! It should have been the first thing I wrote about. SOOO stupid, I feel like such a bad aunty!!!

Yes. That’s right; I neglected to tell everyone that on the day of my Achilles surgery, my eldest sister was in labour. :D

Coincidence I think not.

Kahn Rawiri Anania Cattermole was due May the 11th 2010 but decided to keep cooking and make everyone wait just that little bit longer. In anticipation of his arrival, I could not stop writing his name and I ended up drawing this...

He was born weighing in at 9 pounds 9 ounces, the night of my surgery, May 20th 2010 and MAN WAS HE CUTE! I hated the fact that I wasn’t there when he was born; I actually didn’t meet my nephew until my sister came down to Christchurch to meet the Mother in-law (like 3 months later). My best friend saw him before I did. :(

I was extremely excited when I found out that Te Paea was pregnant. I think I was the first person in our family to be told :D. I had to keep it a secret until she told mum. MAN was that hard!! It was only for a couple days, but it had been the best news in forever and I really, really wanted to tell one of my other sisters. Te Paea and Troy had recently just got together so Kahn was definitely not planned.

He is such a cute baby and is fully going to have an attitude when he grows up. He already knows how to pull on our strings and get everyone’s attention. We’ve talked about how we’re all going to gang up on Paea when she tries to tell him off and how he’s going to be spoilt rotten. I swear there are around a thousand photos of him already; a couple hundred were taken straight after he was born. We have our roles as the aunties; apparently I’m the cool one... I can definitely do that.

Seeing them together as a family makes me so happy! I love just watching them look after and play with him. The stupid things they do to get his attention. It always fascinates me when babies know their parents have left the room. He definitely knows who they are, that’s for sure.

Wish I was home more often

Christchurch Earthquake (2nd Story)

The Christchurch Earthquake, oh how that was fun! As I’m sure you have already heard, on Saturday September 4th at 4.35 am Christchurch had one of the biggest earthquakes recorded in New Zealand. This, my friends, was a 7.1 on the Richter scale but had early suggestions of being 7.4. I must say, that was the fastest I have ever gotten out of bed. While running (well trying to) towards the doorway, there was a massive jolt and I nearly lost my balance. My heart was racing as I slowly slid down the door frame to sit down. By this time, Libby and Leah were also at their doors; just as shocked as I was. We had no clue what to do, did we evacuate or did we stay inside?

After the shaking had stopped, we saw people walking down the stairs and decided to follow. Silly me forgot to put shoes on (not that I ever wear any) and had to stand outside on the freezing grass for (what felt like) 3 hours. Of course my feet had literally fallen off by then. Seeing as it was uni holidays, Shona and Stacey were off in some other part of the country sound asleep. The city was badly damaged, with the after math still showing now. We were lucky; no damage to our apartment what so ever. Nothing had fallen, we were all safe and we still had running water. Several hours had passed without any power though, so we had no clue that this city was pretty much all over the world.

I still believe that the media hyped it up a bit, but what can I say? Media definitely loves drama. The rest of the world had eyes on us. YouTube videos were being posted and phones were going crazy. I had my share of phone calls and texts to family and friends, I even had a chance to update my facebook status.

What had freaked me out the most were the constant aftershocks. Being the first major earthquake away from my family, it felt really weird and lonely. I mean there were only three of us and I was used to sharing a room with someone else. We found out uni was closed for another 2 weeks so Libby decided to go home and leave Leah and I by ourselves. We were in hysterics after a couple major aftershocks and I decided to camp out in the living room with the t.v on.

It’s nearly been 7 weeks now and we are still feeling aftershocks. Although they are nowhere near as big as they were before, it’s quite surprising. Never thought they would last this long! We are all used to them now, not even feeling some of them. 4’s on the Richter scale feel like nothing to us.

I know we are lucky!! If there had to be another massive earthquake I would definitely choose to have it during the night. So glad no one got hurt and even though people had to evacuate their homes, their attitudes towards being safe and alive are amazing. So yeah, I hope all will be okay for the residents of Christchurch and can’t wait for this concert on Saturday 23rd!

Peace out.

1st Story...

It all started when we had to move into Ilam apartments, flat 99.

Seeing as Leah was the first to move in, she had claimed everything to be hers. I was the second, Libby the third, next was Stacey and then the ex-resident of flat 99... We all remember meeting each other for the first time and have our own perspective of how they played out. We were getting along quite well before she moved in. Hearing stories about the ex lead us to beleive that she was a complete bitch. When she finally moved in, we could tell straight away that things were going to be interesting. Her nose in the air as she walked past the living room, trying to act 'superior'. She didn't even have the courtesy to introduce herself, her father did. You would think that if you were going to live with people you haven't met before, you'd at least try to give a fuck.

Skip foward a couple months and we find that she doesn't clean up after herself, her room smelled rank, she was an emotional wreck and a little freaky at times. No one could talk to her without feeling awkward and it was really hard to hold a conversation; Instead of talking to us, she would talk at us. The flat wrote a letter to tell her to clean her shit up, her retaliation?
Taking everything that belonged to her, back into her room. She even started cooking in it, (own little oven). She was deemed the flat problem. All conversations lead to how annoying she was and what little liking we had for her.

Skip foward another couple months and we find one night that she had moved out! Man that was sneaky, it took us the whole day to realise that she wasn't coming back. GAWD we were happy. A week later we get a knock on the door from the office saying that what we did to her was offensive and we're lucky the police weren't getting involved. Apparantly the letter we wrote to her was threatening and dangerous and that someone would be ringing us to get our side of the story. They said the ex had nothing to do with this visit and that if we hassled her about it, we could all get evicted. We hadn't talked to her since she moved out, and we certainly didn't care at all until then!!

All keen to get this meeting over and done with, we decided to ring the office and say we could have the meeting the next day. Apparently we couldn't do that, we had to wait for this person to call us. WTH? And they said we were threatening?? All we said was, "you don't live with your parents anymore, clean up after yourself other wise we'll stick the dishes in your bed". To top it off, we never had that meeting. The person who was supposed to get our side of the story, only rung us once. I was the only person to answer, he didn't seem to care at all about the situation.

There were a couple of good things that came from living with her.

1. We all gained 2 new friends, who now hates the ex-flatmate with a passion. (Macy and Mohammed, yeah boi!)
2. Getting a new flatmate! (Shona the american, she's good as bro.)
3. FREE ALCOHOL (another story)

Read me!

I read through all my posts yesterday.. I now have a whole 13!! (Including this one)

As I laughed at my own stupidity, I realised that there has been a heap load of things I could have blogged about. But now that I decide to write this thing I've completely gone blank!! I can only think of two occasions to write about. One dedicated to my old flatmate, and the other to the Christchurch earthquake.

Let the stories begin!

Oi Jessie :D

Taking a break from studying.

Taking a really long break actually.

Does it count as studying if I'm actually catching up on all the lectures I've missed?.. Haven't been for 3 weeks now.

I had an assignment due last friday, I did it but because i hadn't caught up on all the lectures I didn't know how to do half of it so i missed it out.
I watched those lectures today. The assignment became EASY AS!!!... GAWD. Teaches me! ahaha.
Anyway I don't really care if I pass or not. I technically have four exams but I'm only going to sit 2 of them. Decided that I might just do part time study next year and work. That way I can do what I want.

I don't even know what I want to do. ARGH! It's pissing me off.

TWO FOLLOWERS! woop woop. Awesome.

I have nothing else which is worth mentioning
apart from the fact that

JESSIE IS AMAZING!  : )

Tattoo

I've been thinking of getting another tattoo for a while now. Ever since I knew I had a massive scar from my surgery I've been thinking of ways that a tattoo would compliment it.

I was thinking of having like a tiger or some kind of fierce animal jumping and tearing the scar apart. Seeing as I wanted to design this tattoo myself; well the majority of it anyway. This idea was definately too difficult for my own abilities. After looking around, THANKS TO GOOGLE... you are legendary. I fell in love with tribal designs.

So after many attempts....

I have this.. AM IN LOVE WITH IT!!! gotta think of a bird and then get the money and this could possibly be permanent!! woop woop.

Sweet as bro.

Trip to Mc Donalds

In my last post, I forgot to say that it was 5 in thee morning. I only just re read it and thought to myself 'gawd.. I swear A LOT' I don't mean to though, it just blurts out!!

The mish to maccas was AMAZING!! My flatmate and I took a shit load of random pictures; still being quite tipsy we both thought that they were either amazing or 'REALLY FUCKING EPIC'. Fist bumping each other pretty much after each photo. We were the first walk in customers to be served for the day and we felt pretty honoured (and ashamed!). I wonder how desperate we looked, you could definately tell that we had no sleep.

Here are some of the photos we took on our little walk to the lovely Mc Donalds.

YEAH MAN! Seeing as we don't have any kind of photography skills I am really in love with these photos. I am happy we celebrated taking these photos. To me, they actually seem quite decent.

and the other hand.. I am
COMPLETELY BROKE NOW!
